Arlington, Va. – Dominion National, a leading dental and vision insurer and administrator, announced it has partnered with DigiBite to offer virtual dental consultations through a teledentistry app.

“We are thrilled to be offering an innovative teledentistry solution that will help increase access to dental care and advice for our members,” said Dominion President Mike Davis. “We believe DigiBite will help our customers improve their oral health and get more people to the dentist for necessary preventive care by removing barriers such as cost and location, as well as helping people overcome fear of visiting a dentist.”

This innovative, easy-to-use mobile app includes live video consultations, offline submitted requests and second opinions through a licensed dentist and is designed to help catch certain dental problems early, encourage in-person preventive dental treatment and promote the importance of good oral health. Dominion customers will receive a personalized treatment plan and report within 48 hours of the consultation that includes instructions regarding any recommended follow-up care at a dental office.

“It’s a good option particularly for those in rural areas and elderly, anxious and disadvantaged patients,” said Davis, who serves on the American Teledentistry Association Advisory Board and has presented at several conferences on the increased use and benefits of teledentistry.

DigiBite is initially being made available to Dominion individual and commercial group dental program members residing in Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Washington, D.C. Dominion covers DigiBite virtual consults as in-network services. Any teledentistry services provided will count toward applicable benefit frequency limitations.
